Xmas lights bring
back memories
Dear Editor:
Thanks to all the people on Candy Kane Lane for all their time and effort and money to make Christmas bright.
My retirement home took a bus trip to see all the lights and it was truly lovely. We enjoyed the lights very much and it brought back fond memories of when we were in our own homes.
Thanks again.

No, we鈥檙e not
the 51st state
Dear Editor:
Sometimes, even the most despicable people can provide a glimpse of the future. This week that person was Donald Trump. Whilst he does not understand the catalyst behind the future event, he certainly understands the time-honoured motivations that will be front stage.
Trump joked that Canada should become the 51st state of the U.S. If the virtually impossible does not occur, in about 100 years or so, large potions of that country will become inhospitable to the lifestyle Americans are so divinely entitled to. Due to the effects of climate change, of course.
When that happens, they will do what every civilization has done since the beginning when the options are die or go somewhere else. That is, take what they need. And it won鈥檛 even be a fight.
So to all the right-wing patriots, I鈥檝e got some advise for you. Teach your grandchildren the words to 鈥 God Bless America鈥. I don鈥檛 think they will thank you for it though.

Ron Cannan: voice of reason
Dear Editor:
Why does B次元官网网址 City Council including Mayor Tom Dyas keep throwing money at the homeless situation instead of spending at the bottom where it all started.
Is adding more staff in B次元官网网址 going to actually help?
Yes, the problem is in our backyard. Yes, the homeless need help but we cannot help with all mental health situations. We are helping and have made progress in many areas. This is not religion talking itB次元官网网址 common sense. The provincial government has to help more in many areas.
Mayor Dyas and city councillors, listen to Coun. Ron Cannan 鈥 he has more experience and knowledge than any on council presently. Maybe there is time for a change there.

You pay for
what you get
Dear Editor:
Grinchy union? How about a Grincy government?
Want to know why they haven鈥檛 been ordered back to work, like the port workers, and the rail employees? Simple, they want it to fail.
The reason why Canada Post isn鈥檛 effective anymore is we, as consumers, have allowed other parcel couriers to hire drivers for peanuts, and work seven days a week, until midnight 鈥 awful service because your driver 鈥淐harlie鈥 gets $1.50 per package, and nothing if it isn鈥檛 delivered by midnight. ThatB次元官网网址 why they drive like maniacs, and throw packages anywhere.
I used to use Greyhound for my packages... good union jobs, very reliable and they went everywhere. Then slowly, that service went away. ItB次元官网网址 a shame 鈥 we want it all, but aren鈥檛 willing to pay for it. Maybe you need to shop at your local brick-and-mortar store for your kids鈥 presents.
